3 Big Ideas, Tips or Strategies for this week

1. What to do!?

Stella Grizont once said that “a big mistake that I see people doing is trying to figure out ‘what do I do next?’ And I think the better question to ask is, ‘How do I want to be?’ Typically people will find that there are actually multiple possibilities they haven’t explored yet because they haven’t asked the right questions.”

2. Early struggles

Major life changes—moving to a new city, starting a new job, ending a relationship, getting married, having kids, etc.—will often make life harder for the first 100 days before improving. This is not always true, but it’s a nice reminder that experiencing early struggle doesn’t mean it was a bad choice.

3. Back to basics

Basic arithmetic and numeracy are way more important in life than doing calculus. Similarly, being able to convey yourself simply using ordinary words is far more important than being able to write poetry, having an extensive vocabulary, or speaking seven different foreign languages.

2 Stories, Quotes, or Case-Studies for this week

1. The world stinks!

One Sunday afternoon, a cranky grandfather was visiting his family. As he lay down to take a nap, his grandson decided to have a little fun by putting Limburger cheese on Grandfather’s moustache. Soon, grandpa awoke with a snort and charged out of the bedroom saying, “This room stinks.” Through the house he went, finding every room smelling the same. Desperately he made his way outside only to find that “The whole world stinks!”

So it is when we fill our minds with negativism. Everything we experience and everybody we encounter will carry the scent we hold in our mind.

2. The perfect girl

A friend asked a gentleman how it is that he never married ?

Replied the gentleman, “Well, I guess I just never met the right woman. I guess I’ve been looking for the perfect girl.”

“Oh, come on now,” said the friend, “Surely you have met at least on girl that you wanted to marry.”

“Yes, there was one girl once. I guess she was the one perfect girl the only perfect girl I really ever met. She was just the right everything I really mean that she was the perfect girl for me.”

“Well, why didn’t you marry her,” asked the friend.

“She was looking for the perfect man,” he said.

1 Critical Question to Ask Yourself

In hindsight over the last 10 years…

“What has become more important to you? What has become less important?”
