Can you believe it? Lack of recognition tops the list of reasons why people quit jobs… I read it in a study by Gartner recently. Not money… not facilities… not even paid leaves…… The biggest factor was appreciation and recognition of efforts. That’s important to people.
But the problem is… all these ‘currencies’ of leadership… recognition, credibility…. Authority… all these have to be earned…. Which means, you have to DO something to earn it and just EXPECTING them won’t get any results.
Expecting someone to recognise your work, expecting others to believe you and your ideas, which is credibility….. Or expecting to become an AUTHORITY on your topic is NOT going to become a reality unless you make strategic actions that will result in gaining these beneficial attributes.
Oh my God… that was lengthy….
Alright… People in leadership roles just expecting their people to “FOLLOW” them won’t work… they have to LEAD them in the right direction first, right?
Now, pay attention here…
If you want to get recognised for all the amazing work you are doing………., people must be made aware of your work, in the first place, don’t you think?
Only if they know what you stand for, what you do, your ideas… they will be able to recognise and appreciate your efforts….. Isn’t it?…..
If you want the people to agree with you and trust you or your business, profession, service, or idea…. First, they have to believe in your message… in your expertise and in your leadership. Only then, they’ll follow.
If you want to become a sought-after expert in a certain topic, you must demonstrate to the world that you are indeed the top authority on it, right?
So….., for experts, entrepreneurs, professionals and thought-leaders, their biggest breakthroughs will come from gaining more recognition, credibility and authority in their work. The world is in chaos right now and needs good leaders to show up and lead. There’s so much noise around everything… it takes real leaders to clear the way, bust the myths, and lead their tribes with more courage, enthusiasm, and energy.
This decade is going to be the era of thought-leadership. This new generation of experts, entrepreneurs and professionals are going to lead the world to better conditions, in every industry and geography. Period.
