3 Big Ideas, Tips or Strategies for this week

1. Social Pressure

If you want to take something more seriously, do it publicly. Publishing an article pressure you to think clearly. Competing in race pressure you to train consistently. Presenting on any topic pressures you to learn it. Social pressure forces you to up your game.

2. People Pleaser

You don’t need everyone to agree with you or even like you. It’s human nature to want to belong, to be liked, respected, and valued, but not at the expense of your integrity and happiness. Others cannot give you the validation you seek. Speak up, be assertive when needed, demand respect, and stay true to your values, because this is what you need to do to stop being a people pleaser.

3. Life Plan

Life teaches us lessons to prove us wrong by throwing weird obstacles in our path. You don’t have to live your life strictly according to plan. The best part about life is… there’s no plan. You can spend your days creating plans only to have a random thing thrown at you. Learn to adapt and go with the flow. Most planning is only preparation. Prepare, but be open-minded and flexible.

2 Stories, Quotes, or Case-Studies for this week

1. Domino’s is not a pizza delivery company

What is it then? Domino’s got rid of its 49-year-old recipe (see domino’s turnaround story) and adopted the new digital transformation to become a supply chain technology company. As of 2019, they opened 3 new stores every day.

They have innovated all through the way. In 2008, Domino’s launched its “Pizza Tracker” technology, in 2011 the new iPhone app that allowed customers to order on the go, in 2016 they shocked the world with the first-ever drone delivery in New Zealand and in 2020 Domino’s launched “Car-side Delivery” and “Train Delivery” in India. With more than half its workforce at headquarters in software and analytics, do you think Domino’s is a pizza delivery company?

2. The Ferrari Formula

Did you know that you cannot buy a new Ferrari unless you prove that you are a previous owner? Ferrari took its exclusivity to the extent that even if a billionaire showed up to buy a Ferrari, the company will refuse to sell to them if they feel that their profile does not meet its qualification levels.

Veblen Effect is a 200-year-old theory about abnormal market behavior where consumers purchase the higher-priced goods even when similar low-priced (but not identical) substitutes are available.

1 Critical Question to Ask Yourself

Every business or profession can have a VIP or ELITE club that can be exclusive and entry-by-invitation only.

“What can I create like this in my business or profession?”
